For the first time in 11 years Bayern Munich do not look to be winning the Bundesliga. Many people have begun to say that it is only because Bayern Munich is weaker this season but that surely is not the case. Bayern Munich improved almost all of their positions over the summer transfer window. The pure and undeniable reason is that Bayer Leverkusen have been on top of the world.
But we aren’t here to talk about Bayer Leverkusen, we’re here to talk about the reigning champions Bayern Munich. Bayern Munich’s fall has been coming for a couple years now. Mainly last season. It was the last game of the Bundesliga and Borussia Dortmund were up on points 70 to 68, Bayern Munich. All that Borussia Dortmund had to do was win their last game against FSV Mainz and they would lift the trophy, and we all know how that ended.
Thomas Tuchel has been far from amazing since joining Bayern Munich but hasn’t been necessarily bad. He has been able to bring out the full capabilities of players like Leroy Sane and Harry Kane who have been tearing up the Bundesliga with goals and assists galore. But g/a isn’t everything in Football, which has been shown to its full truth this season.
Bayer Leverkusen have only conceded 18 goals this season. Which is 13 less than Bayern Munich’s 31. Defensive quality has been the one thing that Bayern Munich has been missing. New signing Kim-MIn-Jae has been less useful than Lucas Hernandez has been in his entire spell at Bayern Munich, which has proven fatal in Bayern Munich’s season.

Ever since last season, Bayern Munich fans have been questioning whether they would end up on the top. Now Bayern Munich are 10 points behind Bayer Leverkusen and are giving up hope of winning the Bundesliga.
